A bit of info on Fuengirola

The area is enjoying a booming economy and is proving increasingly popular both with visitors and new residents from all the other European countries as well as Spanish from the colder parts of Spain, all seeking homes in Fuengirola. There are also thriving communities of residents from America, Canada, South Africa, all attracted by a wonderful way of life in a splendid climate. Fuengirola is an economically sound and rapidly developing town.

On Tuesdays there is a bustling street market at the Feria ground, which is a great attraction on the whole of the coast. This starts at around 9a.m. and operates for approximately hours.

On Sundays there is another market in the port. For most of the year it is in the morning from around 10, but during the two hot months of July and August it is held at night.

Fuengirola has a brand new zoo which has attracted praise from thousands of visitors, and there is a water park at the back of town, which is actually in Mijas Costa territory, but is always spoken about as being in Fuengirola.

The sea front promenade is 5 miles or 8kms. long and is completely level, which makes it a splendid place to walk, even for those who are less mobile.

At the western end is a Moorish castle, over 1,000 years old, which is a marvellous location for orchestral or flamenco concerts during the summer months.
